Thomas Duckworth
Thomas was probably born in the Heaton Norris area of Stockport, Cheshire in 1814, the son of John Duckworth and his wife Ann. He was Baptised 6 Nov 1814 at St Mary's Parish Church, Stockport and grew up in the Heaton Norris area with his brothers Henry, John and James and his sister Ann.
He worked as a weaver where he probably met Sarah Knight from Reddish, who also worked as a weaver. The couple were married on 21 October 1838 in Heaton Norris or Stockport, Greater Manchester.
In 1841 they were living at Littlewoods Houses, Nicholson Street, Heaton Norris. In 1842 their first child, Mary was born, but sadly died as an infant beroe her first birthday; their first son, Henry was born in 1844, but he too died as an infant in 1846 Their first child, Mary, was born late in 1842, but died early the following year. Henry was born in 1844, but he died in 1846 when he was two. At about this time his brother, Thomas Henry was born on 21 October 1846. their eighth wedding anniversary. Thomas Henry was born at 6 Nicholson Street, Heaton Norris. They both worked as power loom weavers (1841 Census).

Thomas's mother, Sarah, died in 1874 and was buried at St Mary's Church on 15 Apr 1874

Thomas died 24 May 1883 at 93 Ince Street, Heaton Norris: because the actual date of death is stated in the Probate reference, the second GRO Reference is the correct one. I have shown both to highlight the difficulty in establishing the correct Census and Burial Records.
