Dillingham Curtis was born in 1833 at East End, Wellingborough to Thomas Curtis, boot maker, and his wife, Jane Clark. He was baptised at All Hallows on 21 May 1833. . Jane and Thomas had previously had two children that were baptised "Dillingham Curtis" at All Hallows on 25 March 1825 (buried 26 Dec 1826 aged 18 months) and 24 January 1828 (buried 30 Jan 1828 aged 6 months). Jane died in 1834 when she was just 28. She was buried at All Hallows, Wellingborough 7 Jul 1834.
