Catherine Booth

Catherine was probably married to William Hollinshead on 27 February 1826 at St John's Church, Burslem, Stoke on Trent. Their first child, Martha, was baptised in the same church on 23 Sep 1827. William worked as a shoemaker. At some time before April 1829, the family moved South to Stafford where their children: Ellen, Sarah, Catherine, (possibly Mary,) Mary Ann, John, Emma, Charles and Sarah Ann were born and baptised in St Mary's Parish Church. In the 1861 Census, William's employment is described as "cordwainer".
William died in 1862 in Stafford. At the time, Sarah Ann was about sixteen and the only child still living at home with her mother.
Sarah moved to Finedon,North East of Wellingborough, and found work as a "clicker". There she married Dillingham Curtis, a shoe factor. Sarah and Dillingham's first child, Clark Booth Curtis was born on 15 March 1870 .
Dillingham's mother had died when he was only one, and his step mother died when he was seven, so perhaps it is not surprising that his widowed mother-in-law came to live with his family, who referred to her as "Kate" or "Kitty". She spent her last fifteen years getting to know her grand-children, Clark, Tom, Alice, Walter, Arthur, Jessie and Minnie.

Catherine died in Wellingborough in 1886, probably in her late seventies or early eighties.

Birth:

Note: I have not been able to find a reference to the Birth or Baptism of Catherine Booth. The marriage record is substantiated by the her children's Birth and Baptism records and the family group is confirmed by the census returns for 1841 and 1851. The Census returns give her reported age (apart from the 1841 Census, which for adults is to the nearest 5 years), which indicates a birth between 1803 and 1807. The age recorded on her death certificate, dated June Quarter 1886, is 74. This would indicate that she was born in 1812 or 1811, which is not consistent with the Census Returms.
If Catherine was "of full age" when she married, she would have been born before 26 Feb 1805, which is consistent with
